got my hair cut today, first time it's been restyled in.. oh years!

my hair grows really slowly and as such it takes forever for a bad cut to grow out. So that's made me very conservative at the hairdressers. So I've had the same style for basically the last four years. I had a bad cut 5 years ago, took a year to grow out, (and it was a mild bad cut!) and have kept it in a neatish bob every since.

However, it's been getting duller and duller, this neat bob, but I keep being too frightened. So today, without giving myself any warning, so I couldn't worry about it or talk myself out of it, I looked up hairdresser reviews on the net (don't you just love the net, or new york for that matter, where else would the hairdressers be reviewed!) and found one near by, a bargain for under $100 (are they crazy, why is it so expensive to cut hair? Then again, I've been going to Just Cuts for the past 4 years, where they charge $16 - it was a shock when they went up from $12) In any case, I accept that I am in a new land and there are cultural differences and in new york, to find a hairdresser who charges less than $100 is a bargain, and off I go.

And actually, they were very nice. Not at all pretentious. A sweet Asian girl talked to me about my hair, agreed with me that it had no body or movement, and proceeded to give me a subtly different, but far more flattering cut. Worth every cent of the $85.

Also, in a separate circumstance, got my nails painted a bright rusty red. And yesterday bought some fake diamond earings. So here I am, all glammed up. Just as well we are going out tonight.

Blogger relationships

I have meet some lovely people through their blogs, and through their comments here. And then, on of them just disappeared on me, her blog no longer connects, she no longer leaves comments and I feel sad about that. When I was home with a very small baby I used to chat a lot and I made some lovely friends there, and then I moved and they lost me and by the time the computer and interent connection was up and running again they had disappeared too. It reminded me how fragile the connections can be. Then again, there was an amazon message board that used to talk about romances (much friendlier than the insane political one) and I disappeared from them for over a year and then they refound me and I'm chatting with them on Delphi, so some connections stay and hold. Just like in real life :)
