I have the biggest, baddest, brightest computer screen. It's the size of a small TV. It's so big I'm getting a headache looking at it, like I'm too close to the front at the movies.

I LOVE IT

very happy.

I am the Siren

A man is often secretly oppressed by the role he has to play - by always having to be responsible, in control, and rational. The Siren is the ultimate male fantasy figure because she offers a total release form the limitations of his life. In her presence, which is always heightened and sexually charged, the male feels transported to a realm of pure pleasure. In a world where women are often too timid to project such an image, learn to take control of the male libido by embodying his fantasy.

Symbol: Water. The song of the Siren is liquid and enticing, and the Siren herself is fluid and ungraspable. Like the sea, the Siren lures you with the promise of infinite adventure and pleasure. Forgetting past and future, men follow her far out to sea, where they drown.

More deep dark secrets.

I always knew I was a little odd, but now I have proof.

I've always loved cosmetics. I worked at a cosmetics shop while at uni, three years of summers telling women what eyeshadow to wear and what lipstick is the newest colour and loving it. At home I had a full dresser drawer, not one of those small half sized ones, organised, with trays of makeup. I've never had less than 20 lipsticks, often had more than 50.

But then I moved countries. So I culled my make up down to one pathetic bag (okay, a big bag, but a it all fit inside!) and flew off to ny. Now I've been buying bits and pieces all year, but then I discovered ebay. very bad. I've bought 4 mixed packages before I could stop myself. I just sorted my make up. It's not as much as I had at home, but it's pretty darned close. I have over 10 mixed eye shadows. I know I have one extra large culterly tray over brimming with makeup. Secretly I could do with another one.

And you know what the really odd thing is....

I never wear it anymore!!!!!

ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

oh Lord. I'm going to have to start wearing it again, aren't I.

My life as a soap opera

To show you how crazy I'm going - I've started watching Knots Landing again. Knot's Landing is a spin off of Dallas, and I"ve had this weird relationship with it for years. I used to babysit when I was a teenager (when I should have been going out and having meaningless sex, I was too scared and staying home with other people's children) and KL was screening at 11 pm on Saturday nights (obviously prime time rating) After a while, I was hooked. This was before VHS and it got to the point that I wanted to stay home, even on the Sat nights I wasn't working, so I could (hide )and watch the show. Then I went to university and forgot about it...

So nearly 10 years later I'm in a new city, London, and feeling lost and lonely. I go to the laundromat and hear these familiar voices... it's KL again. So this time, there is VHS, and at the more civilised time at 3pm on Mondays (I still remember the time!!) I start watching it again. The series ran for 14 years so this new batch was totally new. I watch it once a week for 3 years. It's comforting in that odd way. And then, I was breastfeeding a tiny bj, I saw an episode and without any fanfare realised it was the end of the series, and so it was... the show stopped. If I had missed that episode I would never have known (the British are much more low key about this sort of thing)

Anyways, I make it to America and I do recall my old obsession but we can't get it, it's on SoapNet (where else?) and then H says, we do get Soapnet, and so we do. So at the not very helpful time of 11am DAILY there it is... luckily this particulary series is bloody ridiculous, so I'm happy to watch it only now and again, but I find myself rearranging my day around it, if at all possible. And today I saw a ridiculously young Alec Baldwin on what must have been one of his first roles. I never knew he was on KL, so I'm in an entirely new era. (about middle of the series, though at this rate, we will trundle through all 14 years at a very quick rate.)

It's funny how this show comes along to comfort me, give me a totally crazy surrogate family from time to time, and allows me to dip in and out of it. And each time I see it I am a decade older, and now the characters are starting to look young to me! At least we are about the same age now. One of the main characters has a 20 year old, so she must be somewhere in her late 30's. So we've caught up once more.

That's me for now, so glad I could get this confession off my chest,

it published twice for some reason, so I edited the second one out. this weblog is really sick, in a technical way (not including content)

no idea how to fix it.
So tired...

bad nights sleep and bj decides to wake up an hour early... sigh...

backsliding in my life. Came back to new york full of purpose and today my eating is out of control, I'm doing no exercize and I'm retreating. Don't want to be maudlin and actually don't feel self pitying. Just want to see it and call it as it is, so I can fix it, rather than pretending all is normal.

my volunteer job fell through, through no fault of my own. My original contact left the organisation and the woman who replaced him has no time for me, and hasn't returned any of my calls, and I've made nearly a dozen, so that's over. Feel sad about that, but my visa status has changed so maybe it's a way of forcing me to shift. I don't know. H suggested I volunteer for the tribeca film festival and that sounds like it might be a good idea. At least it will be close! (we live in tribeca) I'll look into that.

I am learning to ice skate, and find myself dreaming about it before I go to sleep, but am still clumsy and fearful on the ice. I had this weird idea of taking ecstacy before a lesson. It helps me to feel far more comfortable in my own skin, which allows me to dance far more fluidly. I know I could skate if only I could get my knees to unlock. It's fear making me graceless. In my dreams I just step out and glide, and yet when I'm on the on the ice, the gliding makes me stop and freeze. I will keep on going with the lessons, and just try to incorporate more of my dream knowledge into my reality.

bj is really one of the sweetest of the sweet children but he chatters incessantly and I know I am in a bad space because lately his chatter is really getting on my nerves. I just want him to shut up for a bit, even though he is saying nothing offensive and behaving himself, just excited and chirpy. His evil mother is growling away. Time to shift my energy!

aside from that... well aside from that I'm okay. Just taking my temperature here.

how are you?
