I want to apologise to any who read this, I hadn't realise I would disappear.

We are on holidays, driving down through South Carolina, onto Savannah. It has been mixed. Washington was interesting in a musuem kind of way, but planned cities don't do it for me. Virginia Beach was awful. Not even tacky enough to be sleazy, just plain ugly. But then it got better. We went to Ocracoke Island, which was lovely, driving through Hatteras Island which had the most fabulous houses on it, three story higgledy piggeldy places just like from the fairy books. And tonight we are in Beaufort, a most charming town, with many houses from the 1700's. Well worth visiting. I love the accents.

So that is where I have been. I will be in irregular contact until we get to Sydney, where we are staying for three weeks.

I've enjoyed the break but have felt guilty about not writing and worried that I may have disappointed some... so interesting. what are relationships, what is real, what is good manners. Lots of things to think about but not on a hotel phone bill.
