I just had this bizzare experience.

saw the film the hours today, and have decided that I am not going to read the critics anymore, as they give away too much!! I really liked Nicole Kidman in it, she had none of her usual mannerisms that I find quite annoying, but instead felt completely like the intense and conflicted Virginia Woolfe.

I liked it and the whole idea that we all flirt with suicide from time to time. Well, who hasn't. I certainly have.

Movie spoiler, if you haven't seen it and want to, stop reading now...

I just couldn't understand the Laura Brown character (played by Julianne Moore) I can certainly understand feeling suffocated in her lifestyle. I can even understand contemplating suicide when pregnant, and maybe even going through with it. But I can't imagine abandoning my children. I just can't. I would die for bj and I absolutely would live for him. And even if circumstances drew me to running away, I would return. I just can't imagine living a meaningful life, knowing I have children but not knowing what's going on with them. Even if I disappeared for 10 years, I would have made contact with them when they were adults. I would have tried. It just amazed me that she let them go like that. I know I could not.

So it was good and not as devestating as I feared, in my current fragile state. Though I do have a headache now, and am going to sleep (I typed that sentence with my eyes closed and still got it all right. there is no way I could use a type writer though, I'm far too comfortable with making typos and correcting them.)
kind of depressed today, feeling lonely. My volunteer work fell through and I have yet to replace it with anything meaningful, and I feel that dreadful inertia start to creep in where it becomes harder to think of things, harder to carry out the simplest tasks. I always say if you want something done you ask a busy person. I have too much time on my hands and am getting nothing done.

sigh.
